Hello! My name is Heidi Pechota. I am honored to have been asked to lead Kadens Kloset: Decorah. I admire all of the hard work that the LaBelle's and the community volunteers have put into this organization, and I hope to continue where they left off. Effective today, I am the Director of Kadens Kloset: Decorah, so if you have any questions or needs, please feel free to contact me at the number listed on this page. I'll share a little bit about myself and how I came to know this organization.
My husband Dominic and I have four children Will, 17; Jalen, 11; Colin, 8; Lucy, 2; and our house greeter, our fur baby, Russy. I first became interested in Kadens Kloset after being referred by the Department of Human Services while searching for a place to donate my clothes to those in foster care. My son's grandmother Christy, who had fostered over fifty children, had shared stories with me of children coming to her house with only a garbage sack of clothing. And most of the time, the items had to be thrown out. Before Christy passed away she said to me,” I hope I made a difference.” I knew she had made such an impact on the children she had fostered, adopted, and on me as well. That's when I contacted Kristle, the founder of Kadens Kloset. And shortly after, I was volunteering at the Kadens Kloset store in Waterloo. I was compelled by all the love that had gone into the organization and knew that this was exactly what these children needed. I later became the development director until we moved to Decorah in 2017. I've since missed seeing the joy in kids’ faces as they shop and being of help to those in need. I look forward to continuing what the LaBelle's have started, and I am thrilled to be back with Kadens Kloset. |
