KADENS KLOSET HURRICANE HARVEY RELIEF TRIP #2
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
First off, thank you to each and every person who gave of their time, resources or finances for our emergency trip to the greater Houston area over Labor Day weekend. We were able to get emergency supplies spread across 5 different communities and make a huge impact. We built relationships and we were able to see firsthand not only the devastation, but also how far each and every resource being brought in can help. We were able to target communities that were receiving less assistance than others, which strengthened our vision and our motivation to make a greater impact on our second trip. Our crew learned so much about the communities affected:
We realized that some of the smaller areas were hit the hardest.
We realized that those with less resources tend to be overlooked or given the run-around.
We realized that it is impossible for "us" to decide what people need from afar.
We realized that even in the most desperate moments of their life, hurting people were trying to serve US as we were trying to serve them.
We realized that things in Texas are changing by the hour, so it was nearly impossible to predict from one moment to the next.
We realized that the wonderful people of Texas are so kind, grateful, and so incredibly thankful for all of the kindness and support from afar!!
We have learned so much about what to expect for our second trip, and how best to help the people of the extended Houston Area.
DONATIONS CURRENTLY BEING ACCEPTED FOR TRIP 2:
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
* MONETARY DONATIONS
Our ability to use financial gifts on this trip was one of the GREATEST AREAS OF IMPACT that we were able to make! With needs constantly changing, what the residents need today may not be a need tomorrow. We must have the resources available to be flexible to the ever changing priorities.
Donations on trip #2 are going to be even more critical for the following reasons:
▪ We will be feeding the entire neighborhood on 3 seperate occasions on trip 2. We are taking a large pull behind grill and we will have a community food station set up on site!
▪ We are planning on taking empty trailers down and purchasing construction and clean up supplies as needed.
▪ We would like to use a portion of our resources to help with furnishing apartments as they become completed or move in ready.
▪We saw people who have lost EVERYTHING, and children with nothing. We are planning a "surprise" for the kids in the complex where we are going to be working.
MONETARY DONATIONS ARE SO IMPORTANT for this type of work!
We would also like to take small increment VISA Gift Cards with us that can be distributed to families and residents. $25 would be great!

ABSOLUTELY NO CLOTHING!!
We saw firsthand the hassle that used clothing donations have created for the area. People do NOT NEED CLOTHING any longer (they did in the first few days when they were wading through floodwaters, but this is NO LONGER a need).
Clothing is piling up in distribution centers and creating a complete over abundance and just one more thing to "clean up".
NO CLOTHING WILL BE TAKEN BY KADENS KLOSET TO TEXAS.
We do accept your new and like new clothing at our Kadens Kloset Sites. Contact a Site Director to inquire.
